Google Talk or Gtalk is well known and most common instant messenger, you can login to Google Talk with multiple accounts at one place with very simple way.

As you know Google is offering many free services like Google Mail Gmail, Google Talk Messenger, Google Books and many more services.

Why to login into Google talk with multiple accounts?

Google Talk can provide services like instant messaging (Text), voice and video communication; it is the name of client application of Google to get the Google Talk features. Before reading this article you can use only one account in Gtalk to chat with your friends. Just assume that you have more than one or multiple Google accounts with many friends (Personal, Official and Business friends) and you wish to login all the accounts at once to chat with friends in Google Talk multiple accounts.

How to Login into Google talk with multiple accounts?

It’s quite easy if you follow simple steps mentioned here. Download and Install Google Talk from Google Website. Try to find the option to login with multiple accounts, you can’t find because by default Google will not provide the feature. but you can login.

After installing Google Talk, shortcut will be created on desktop if not just create Gtalk shortcut, then right click on Gtalk shortcut and go to properties there you will find a field called “target” see the below image.

Go to target field and change replace text “startmenu” with “nomutex”, to save it click apply and then ok. Thats it your Multiple accounts Google Talk is ready to use.

Click on Gtalk to open it and login, then again click and login, click and login, click and login. Each and every time application will open independently, so you can login and use it without disturbing to other logged in accounts.

So, now you can use Single Google Talk to login with multiple Google Accounts.

  3. Thanks. Got it to work. This is particularly helpful, as our corporate email is now on GoogleApps and having two Gtalk login meant I did not have to switch between the two accounts.

  4. I could not get this to work. I do not see a “target” field in the properties of Gtalk. There are several tabs, in the properties. Which tab can I expect to see this field?

      Dear Sunil Sivanand,

      On GTalk properties you can find “Shortcut” tab and then see the path of the GTalk, add /nomutex end of the path.

      2nd way To create a new shortcut for Google Talk:
      Right-click on the desktop or anywhere you want to place the GTalk shortcut.
      Select New on the right click context menu.
      Then select Shortcut.
      Copy and paste the following line to the text box when prompted to type the location of the item:
      “c:\program files\google\google talk\googletalk.exe” /nomutex

      It works for you.
